(Posted @ 22:54 PST) Germany's Pakistan envoy injured in bike accident ISLAMABAD, Oct 22, (AFP) - Germany's ambassador to Pakistan was injured Sunday after being knocked off his bicycle accidentally by a car in the capital Islamabad, hospital officials said. Ambassador Guenter Mullak was riding his bike near the German mission in Islamabad's heavily-guarded diplomatic enclave when the incident happened, doctor Ali Goya from the Poly Clinic Hospital told AFP. Mullak, who injured his nose and sustained a minor fracture to his arm in the accident, received a few stitches before being transferred to the city main Shifa Hospital, the doctor said. India aspires to share intelligence with Pakistan NEW DELHI, Oct 22, (AFP) - An anti-terrorism cooperation mechanism agreed last month by India and Pakistan could pave the way to intelligence-sharing, India's national security advisor said Sunday. Although intelligence-sharing was not immediately on the cards, it was the "ultimate hope" of the mechanism, M.K. Narayanan told the CNN-IBN television network. "(If) we see there is a great deal of cooperation forthcoming from Pakistan and there is a great deal of comfort between India and Pakistan, then may be we could share intelligence," he said. "He has until mid-noon on Wednesday to leave," said foreign ministry spokesman Ali al-Sadig. He added the reason was Pronk's comments on the army. Heavily armed militants fired on the interstate Arunachal Express train late Saturday shortly after it pulled into a station about 70 kilometers north of Assam state's main city of Guwahati, a police spokesman said. "A Railway Protection Force guard was killed and five others, including two security men and three passengers, were seriously injured," K. Sharma, a senior police official, told AFP. (Posted @ 19:48 PST) NATO soldiers kill 15 insurgents in Afghanistan KABUL, Oct 22, (APP/AFP) - NATO-led troops killed 15 insurgents in southern Afghanistan after the rebels attacked their convoy with guns and rocket-propelled grenades, the force said Sunday. The rebels attacked an International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) patrol in the southern province of Zabul on Saturday, an ISAF statement said. "ISAF forces returned fire killing 15 insurgents. Two ISAF vehicles were damaged and no ISAF personnel were injured," it said. In an Interview to Radio Tehran he said Pakistan President General Pervez Musharraf and kashmiri leadership have flexed their longstanding stance on Kashmir. Yet Indian leadership has been following policy stubborness despite holding talks. However, Mirwaiz Omar Farooq expressed hope that Indian would adopt a positive attitude with regard to solution of Kashmir issue in the wake of changing international scenario. In an interview with Al-Jazeera television aired late Saturday, Alberto Fernandez, director of public diplomacy in the Bureau of Near Eastern Affairs at the State Department offered an unusually candid assessment of America's war in Iraq. ``We tried to do our best but I think there is much room for criticism because, undoubtedly, there was arrogance and there was stupidity from the United States in Iraq,'' he said. ``We are open to dialogue because we all know that, at the end of the day, the solution to the hell and the killings in Iraq is linked to an effective Iraqi national reconciliation,'' he said, speaking in Arabic from Washington. ``The Iraqi government is convinced of this.'' Field Marshal Sir Peter Inge, the former chief of the defence staff, attacked Britain's military operations in Afghanistan and Iraq. "I don't believe we have a clear strategy, either in Afghanistan or Iraq," Inge said at a meeting sponsored by the Open Europe think tank last week, the newspaper said.
