EC restores membership of eight lawmakers


ISLAMABAD, Oct 20: The Election Commission on Friday restored the membership of two MNAs and six MPAs after they submitted statements of assets and liabilities.

The EC had suspended the membership of 13 MNAs and 34 MPAs on Oct 16 for failing to submit yearly statements of assets and liabilities.

Under sub-section 42A of the Representation of the People Act, 1976, a member of an assembly is bound to submit a statement of assets and liabilities by Sept 30 each year.

The MNAs whose membership was restored are Sahibzada Mohammad Mehboob Sultan (NA-91, Jhang-VI), and Nawab Amanullah Khan (NA-154, Lahore-I).

The MPAs are Jehanzaib Rao (PP-165, Sheikhupura-IV), Sardar Mohammad Khan Leghari (PP-243, Dera Ghazi Khan), Mohammad Abdullah Wains (PP-282, Bahawalnagar-VI), Qurban Ali Khan (PF-16, Nowshera-VI), Wajihuz Zaman Khan (PF-56, Mansehra-IV) and Syed Mohammad Ali Shah (PF-98, Malakand Protected Area-I).—APP
