NRAP names shooters for Asian Games


KARACHI, Sept. 20: National Rifle Association of Pakistan (NRAP) has submitted the names of 10 marksmen to organisers of the Asian Games to be held in Doha, Qatar from Dec 1 to 15.

Among the pistol shooters, Commonwealth Games silver medallist Irshad Ali will be spearheading Pakistan, while double Olympian Khurram Inam will be among hopefuls in skeet contest.

NRAP said rifle shooters may be included in the squad after trials if they achieved minimum qualifying scores.

Meanwhile, the Asian Shooting Federation (ASF) chief Salman Al-Sabah, the Crown Price of Kuwait, will be visiting Pakistan next year.

His visit will be finalized after approval of NRAP president Admiral Muhamad Afzal Tahir.

Selected rifle shooters:

Pistol: Irshad Ali, Mustaqeem Shah, Maqbool Hussain Tabbasum, Muhammad Boota and Afsar Khan (men) and Mehwish Maqsood (woman).

Shotgun (skeet): Khurram Inam, Ahmed Sultan, Muhammad Shafique and Amin Karmat.—APP
