PESHAWAR, Sept 20: More than 45,000 distribution transformers are functioning round the clock to provide electricity to consumers throughout the province. The 36th meeting of the board of directors of the Peshawar Electric Supply Company (Pesco) was informed here on Wednesday.
It was said that Pesco’s entire distribution system was overloaded because of which large numbers of transformers had been damaged. On an average, seven transformers were damaged every year.
Pesco used its own resources to repair the damaged transformers at Wapda’s reclamation workshop in Nowshera, it said. But, because of the workload, the facilities were inadequate to complete repair work in a reasonable time.
The meeting decided to constitute a technical committee to inspect local private reclamation workshop facilities and compare it with the Wapda workshop. It was also decided to submit a detailed report in the next meeting of the board of directors for diversifying the repair facilities.—Correspondent
