Drive for nurseries


PESHAWAR, Sept 12: The NWFP government on Tuesday launched a campaign to raise nurseries of different species and fruit plants to rehabilitate environment in Swat, Shangla, Malakand and Buner districts, said Noorul Haq, NWFP Secretary for Forests, Wildlife, Fisheries and Transport.

“We have recently signed a memorandum of understanding with the Rural Support Programme under which it would provide Rs20 million for forest development and Rs5 million for development of fisheries in the districts,” he told APP.

Mr Haq said six fish farms would be set up in Swat and four in Shangla as the areas had a potential of producing trout fish.
