KARACHI, Sept 7: The additional district and sessions judge, East, Abdur Rehman Bhatti, acquitted on Thursday a man in two separate murder cases.
Mohammed Rafique Shaikh, who was stated to be a worker of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement, was exonerated from murder charges as prosecution could not bring on record sufficient evidence against him.
Both the murder cases against the Muttahida worker were registered by the Korangi police in 1995. One of the cases pertained to the kidnapping and killing of Mushtaq on May 17, 1995. The victim’s wife, Ameena Begum, was the complainant.
The second case was registered on July 27, 1995, on the complaint of Mashooq Ali for killing his son Maqbool.
MURDER CASE: The additional district and sessions judge, Central, Naseem Mansoor, sentenced a man to suffer rigorous imprisonment for 10 years in a murder case.
Mohammed Irfan was found guilty of having killed his friend Kashif on July 21, 2002 in Sharifabad police limits.
According to prosecution, the victim wanted to marry his friend’s sister, but his proposal was turned down. Later, the accused called the victim at his friend’s house and made him drink intoxicated liquor. The main piece of evidence against the accused was victim’s dying declaration.
Notice issued: The district and sessions judge, West, Mohammed Jawaid Alam, issued notice to the SHO of the Site police for denying FIR against an owner of a mills.
Liaquat Ali Rana, represented by Merajuddin Ansari, submitted before the court that his elder brother, Mohammed Younus, was a worker at the Serhad Re-rolling Mills and he died around 9am on Aug 4 at the factory in mysterious circumstances.
He said he was informed around 12:57pm about the death of his brother due to electrocution.
He said his employers had removed the body from the hospital before he reached there.
He said he reported the matter to the Site police and asked them to lodge an FIR against the mill owner Zafar and factory foreman Haji Aslam, but the police refused to lodge the case.
He prayed to the court to direct the police to register the murder case against the mill owner and others.
