KARACHI: Encroachments reappear

KARACHI, Aug 29: Encroachments have reappeared across Sehba Akhter Extension Road in Gulshan-i-Iqbal Town just a month after an anti-encroachment drive causing frequent terrific jams besides posing difficulties to the pedestrians.

As footpaths and about half portion of both the lanes of the roads have been occupied by shopkeepers and restaurants, the pedestrians are compelled to walk on the road, which is not risky but also worsening the already disturbed traffic flow on the road. As a result, frequent traffic jams on the road have become a routine.

On the complaints of area residents, town Nazim Gulshan-i-Iqbal had ordered removal of encroachments. But the encroachers have staged a comeback.

The area residents say builders have also occupied the land reserved for footpaths and constructed highrise buildings in Waseem Bagh, UC-8, in convenience with the KBCA men.—Online
