Rs83m plan for Quetta airport

By Our Correspondent

QUETTA, Aug 20: The federal government has approved a project for the Quetta international airport to provide night-landing facility. The project will cost Rs82 million.

A meeting, presided over by Balochistan Chief Secretary K. B. Rind, reviewed the plan.

The meeting was told that land had been acquired around the Quetta airbase and owners had been compensated.

Presently planes could not land at the Quetta airport after sunset.

BSO: The Baloch Students Organisation (BSO) held a protest demonstration to condemn the police for using tear gas on a women’s procession in Turbat on Independence Day and demanded of human rights organisations to raise voice against the government’s inhuman action.

The protestors assembled in front of the press club on Sunday and the activists of the students body chanted slogans against the government and the military operation in Balochistan.

Speaking to the protesters, Bashirzeb Baloch, chairman of the BSO, alleged that the government has launched large-scale military operation against the Baloch masses, particularly in Dera Bugti and Kohlu.
