Widespread thunderstorm, rain likely in country


ISLAMABAD, Aug 20: The meteorological office on Sunday forecast widespread rain and thunderstorm with isolated heavy falls in Sindh, Punjab, the NWFP, Balochistan and Kashmir on Monday.

Rain with thunderstorm was also reported from isolated places of upper Punjab, Sindh, Hazara division and Kashmir on Sunday.

Balakot received 84 mm rain, Kotli 70 mm, Islamabad 32 mm, Shorkot 16 mm, Chhor 15 mm, Rawalpindi 11 mm, Murree 9 mm, Parachinar 7 mm, Badin 4 and Dir 2 mm.

Weather would remain cloudy with chances of rain and thunderstorm in the federal capital as well as in Northern Areas on Monday.

Highest temperature of 44 degrees on the Celsius scale was recorded in Turbat, Balochistan, on Sunday.

The maximum temperature in Islamabad was 29 degrees centigrade, Lahore 34, Karachi 32, Peshawar 31, Quetta 35, Gilgit 36 and Muzaffarabad 29.

Pollen count in Islamabad on Sunday was 210 per cubic-metre.—APP
