KARACHI: Pakhtoons’ warning

Published August 21, 2006

KARACHI, Aug 20: Shahi Syed, Chairman of the Pakhtoon Action Committee, calling itself ‘Loya Jirga’, has said that the struggle for the rights of Pakhtoon people would stay peaceful, but warned the government not to regard this as ‘weakness’ as Pakhtoons were capable of paralyzing Karachi.

“Being democrats and followers of Bacha Khan, we would use all peaceful options in getting our rights, but if compelled to take an extreme action, we have the potential to paralyze the city, and in such a situation, the responsibility would rest on bureaucracy and rulers of Sindh,” he said while addressing a public meeting at Sohrab Goth.—PPI
