KARACHI: Wholesale market in Orangi planned


KARACHI, Aug 20: The city government will set up a wholesale market in Gulshan-i-Zia, UC-6, Orangi Town.

EDO (Enterprise and Investment) Syed Abid Ali Shah on Saturday said that the proposed market would also be beneficial for consumers of Manghopir, Gadap, Baldia, SITE, North Nazimabad, Lyari and Keamari towns. He said that besides vegetables and fruits, fish, meat and chicken would also be sold in the proposed market on wholesale rate.

He said that a model bazaar would also be set up in Nazimabad area of Liaquatabad towns soon.

JAMSHED TOWN: Spray of insecticides is being carried out at different spots in Jamshed Town after clearing of stagnant rain water, on the directive of Town Nazim Muhammad Arif Ajakia.

Five spray machines had been engaged to carry out the task of spraying insecticides in various union councils of the town, said a statement issued on Sunday.

The town nazim along with TMO Altaf Memon and other officials visited various areas to review the progress of work being done in connection with the removal of stagnant water.

Appreciating the performance, he directed to undertake the filling of potholes appeared on streets and roads after rains on war-footings.

MALIR: Malir Town Nazim Ansar Ahmed Sheikh on Saturday declared rain emergency in his town and directed citizens to vacate low-lying localities and banks of Malir River in awake of expected flood there.

There was fear of flood in the low-lying localities and near banks of river. The nazim asked the people residing at the bank river to shift to safer places.

He also directed the TMO to provide more de-watering pumps and machinery besides formation of seven different teams. These teams, one each in every union council, would be discharging their duties to avoid possible rain damages.

Ansar Ahmed also directed the TMO to pay visit to these areas and inspect rain emergency arrangements.

LANDHI: New sewerage and water supply lines will be laid in Landhi Town so that a situation created by rains this year could be avoided next year.

This was stated by Landhi Town Nazim Muhammad Ismail Qureshi during his visit to different areas of the town. He assured the people that the town administration was doing its best to mend the current situation with regard to sewerage and water supply.—PPI/APP
