Three killed in road accidents

SHEIKHUPURA, Aug 16: Three people were killed in different road accidents in Sheikhupura and Nankana Sahib districts on Wednesday. The first incident occurred in Manawala in Nankana district where labourer Gull Abbas knocked down and killed by a speeding truck. The deceased was crossing the road. The driver managed to escape from the scene.

Cleaner Iftikhar was killed when two speeding trucks, coming from the opposite direction, collided head-on near Herder village on Gujranwala Road.

Sadar police are looking into the matter.

An unidentified person was killed when a loader at high speed hit him near Khanqah Dogran in Nankana Sahib district.

LOOTED: Armed bandits decamped with cash and valuables worth millions of rupees in two separate strikes in Sheikhupura and Nankana Sahib districts on Wednesday.

Around 10 dacoits in police uniform entered the flour mills of union council nazim Mian Ajmal, the brother of MPA Mian Khalid, and escaped after looting cash and mobile phones worth Rs4 million.

Manawala police are going into the matter.

Five armed dacoits, including notorious proclaimed offenders Yasin Rashid and Rafique, barged into the house of Syed Sajjad Hussain Shah. The intruders held the inmates hostage, scooped cash, ornaments and valuables worth millions of rupees and escaped with the booty.

Farooqwala Sadar police are investigating the matter.
