MUZAFFARABAD, Aug 12: AJK Prime Minister Sardar Attique Ahmad Khan on Saturday warned India against any misadventure in the disputed Himalayan region of Kashmir under its “policy of hot pursuit.”

Talking to journalists at his office here, he maintained that the territory of AJK and Gilgit Baltistan had not been given to its inhabitants “in alms” but they had liberated it after 18 months of armed struggle. And they would fight side by side of the Pakistan Army in case of any misadventure by India, he said.

When asked about India’s allegations of militants’ camps in the AJK, he said: “There is no jihadi camp in the AJK. We are peaceful people and seek a lasting and peaceful political solution to the Kashmir issue.”

Sardar Attique said India should accept President Gen Musharraf’s proposal of demilitarisation and self-rule in Kashmir and finding a permanent solution to the issue.

He stressed that the peace process between Pakistan and India must go on.

He called for joint efforts to make South Asia a region where people utilised their energies, resources, expertise and knowledge for their socio-economic uplift, better education and healthcare facilities.
