BD tea prices

CHITTAGONG, Aug 8: The average price of Bangladesh teas rose 3.87 per cent to 103.25 taka ($1.48) per kg on higher demand at a weekly auction on Tuesday, brokers said.

“Close to 1.23 million kg were sold at an average price of 103.25 taka per kg, up 3.85 taka from the last sale. The withdrawal percentage was nearly 0.90, lowest of the season,” said an official of the National Brokers Limited.

Some 250 kg of Red Dust realised the highest price of 147 taka per kg, followed by another 250 kg of Golden Broken Orange Pekoe, selling at 146 taka. Other grades were sold between 90 and 140 taka per kg.—Reuters
