Karachi Port operations

By Our Staff Reporter

KARACHI, Aug 1: Ten ships carrying general cargo and urea are expected to arrive at the outer anchorage on Wednesday, according to KPT sources. Berthing activity at the wharves was slow owing to rain and as a result only a container vessel, Iran Sattari was berthed.

Berthing of ships, carrying general cargo, sugar and other commodities, is delayed as the cargoes get wet if it starts raining amid unload and loading operations.

No ship departed on Tuesday, while Viscaya, Spyros-B, Yasmina, Iran Sattari, Tai He and Lalazar are due to sail out on Wednesday.

Cargo handling activity at the wharves was active where a total tonnage of 0.273m tons comprising 8,130 tons of export cargo and 0.192m tons of import tonnage, mostly liquid was handled.

The following ships are due on Wednesday: Johar, Swat, each with 65,000 tons crude oil, Victoria-1, with base oil, Hyundai Highway, Orient Independence, Maersk Alabama, and El Temerar, with containers, Athlo Foros, with 22,500 tons of urea, Thor Jasmine and Perisa, with general cargo.
