ISLAMABAD, July 20: The Higher Education Commission (HEC) has worked out a system to enable scientists and researchers to file patenting of their inventions.

The process of intellectual property evaluation consists of self evaluation and an evaluation of experts in the patent law, said an announcement.

The programme enables the scientists to submit research ideas, published papers, and thesis synopsis to describe the potential inventions for evaluations leading to patentability.

HEC has already created a separate link for patent filing on its website. The scientist or researcher could apply for patent online by creating a separate account. The purpose of the account was to ensure that the submission would remain confidential and no step would be taken without the consent of the inventor.
