KARACHI, July 20: Breakdowns kept many localities in the city without electricity for hours on Wednesday night and Thursday.
While residents of various localities complained of intermittent power failures on Thursday, many others said they suffered a two-hour suspension in supply on the previous night.
A resident from Gulistan-i-Jauhar, Block-18, said that power supply to his area was suspended for three hours in the afternoon amid the sizzling weather. He said that the power utility had been getting additional supply from Wapda but the unannounced loadshedding continued unabated.
A resident of North Nazimabad, Block-H, said that disruption in power supply was still a routine in his locality and there was also no respite from the unannounced power loadshedding.
A consumer from Memon Goth, Gadap Town, said that the power supply was suspended since 1pm and not restored till late in the night. He said that the villages around his Goth were also without power.
However, a spokesman for the KESC denied any loadshedding having been applied, saying it was not needed because there was no disparity between demand and supply. In some areas, he maintained, localised faults caused disruption in power supply. Some faults had been rectified while work at some locations was in progress, he added.
