KARACHI: CDGK destroys substandard drinks, rotten fruits


KARACHI, July 12: A team of the city government food inspectors has eliminated 80 kilograms of rotten fruits and 500 litres of substandard lemonade in its ongoing drive against manufacture and sale of poor quality drinks and overripe fruits.DCO Karachi had imposed a ban under Section 144 CrPC on production and sale of overripe, rotten and cut fruits, sugarcane juice, ice lollies, gola ganda and all kinds of syrups within the limits of CDGK for two months.

On Wednesday, the team, led by DO Regulation and Quality Control Dr Shaukat Zaman, conducted raids in localities around Mir Karam Ali Talpur Road, Dr Daudpota Road, Shahrah-i-Iraq, Mansfield Street and Jehangir Park in Saddar and seized substandard colours and saccharine used in sugarcane juice.

The food inspectors also destroyed rotten and overripe fruits weighing 80 kilograms and drinks made from lemon with a total quantity of 500 litres.—PPI
