11 foreigners among passengers of crashed Russian plane MOSCOW, July 9, 2006 (AFP) - Eleven foreigners were on board the Airbus plane that crashed in Siberia on Sunday, an official for the Sibir airline told Interfax. "We have information about 11 citizens of foreign countries on board the crashed plane," the official said. The foreigners were two Polish citizens, two Germans, two Moldovans, two South Koreans and three Chinese, the official said. The plane's passengers also included 14 children aged 12 or under, the official said. At least 137 people died out of the 200 people who were on board the Airbus A310 plane that crashed during landing at Irkutsk airport, officials have said. The bombings in the Qasra neighbourhood of Adhamiyah came just hours after at least 42 people, were massacred by roving bands of masked gunmen in Jihad. The official said 14 civilian cars were also damaged in the twin bombings. The aerial attack came in the neighborhood of Shajaya, near the Karni border crossing on Gaza's eastern border with Israel. The Israeli army confirmed an airstrike in the area, but denied hitting any homes. "An air strike targetted a group of gunmen walking in an open area near the Karni crossing. We did not hit any buildings," a spokesman said. Earlier in the day another four Palestinians were killed in sporadic exchanges of fire with Israeli forces who took up positions overnight in nearby farmland and industrial areas. Annan said he was "extremely concerned about the dangerous situation in the occupied Palestinian Territory". "The passage of foodstuffs and other essential supplies through the Karni commercial crossing should be ensured and restrictions on movement and access for UN agencies should be lifted forthwith," Annan said in a statement released by his office here. Annan noted that Israeli airstrikes on Gaza's only power plant have impacted Gaza's hospitals, flour mills, water and sanitation systems, and called for the Israeli government to "act expeditiously" to replace the destroyed equipment. "What we are requesting is that the votes be recounted so that our triumph be demonstrated," said leftist Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador, insisting he would demonstrate in court the July 2 election was plagued with irregularities.
