Altaf sees conspiracies
LAHORE, June 20: Despite conspiracies by exploiters and the feudal lords in the Punjab, noting can stop the poor and the middle classes from bringing the revolution Pakistan had been waiting since long.
Muttahida Quami Movement leader Altaf Hussain said this in his telephonic address to the party’s district committees in Lahore and Gujranwala, according to a press release.
MQM had, from day one, been fighting the case of the exploited classes, suffered hardship and underwent difficulties for that, but continued with its mission undeterred, he said.
He said his party brought the poor and the oppressed at par with the rich and the powerful sections of the society and gave them voice to fight for their rights.
He said the party workers braved the 1992 military operation, which was worst of its kind, setting an example for others.
He claimed the MQM enjoyed following in Punjab also where the people were first betrayed by the PPP and then again by Nawaz Sharif. The people of the Punjab, he said, were no more ready to be taken for a ride again.
He said the feudal elements were frightened by the increasing popularity of the MQM in Punjab and were busy spinning conspiracies.
He criticised the attacks on party offices in Punjab, alleging they were carried out by the vested interests and the Jamat-i-Islami.
