KARACHI: Sports Complex in New Karachi to be inaugurated soon


KARACHI, June 20: New Karachi Town Nazim Muhammad Hanif Soorti on Tuesday said that the city nazim would soon inaugurate a Sports Complex in Sector 11-J. He stated this while inaugurating the construction of a road from Ajmer Nagri to Sabah Chowrangi. He said that 100 pole-mounted transformers were being installed in the town. Besides, he said, another road would be built facilitating town residents to reach the airport from Super Highway in 15 minutes.

Hanif Soorti said that the town administration had also planned establishment of vegetable and fruit markets in the area.

He also lauded the efforts of residents who razed their houses and shops paving the way for the construction of a new road.

In the meantime, a special team of New Karachi Town administration killed 213 stray dogs during its campaign under the supervision of TO Cleaning Syed Sarwar Ali.

GULSHAN: The de-silting and repair work of 2000-ft-long storn-water drain in UC-6 of Gulshan-i-Iqbal Town has been completed.

This was stated by Town Nazim Muhammad Wasay Jalil while inaugurating a newly constructed road from KESC Training Centre to Shaheen Store in Block-8 of Gulshan-i-Iqbal. He said that the road with lane-marking and cat-eyes was completed at a cost of Rs5 million.

He said that the in the past residents of the area were facing problems due to shabby condition of roads, but now relief was provided to them. He further said that more development projects were being initiated in the town.

Gulshan-i-Iqbal Town Naib Nazim Shoaib Akhtar, TMO Matanat Ali Khan, TO (Infrastructure) Shafeequr Rehman, DTO (B&R) Mobin Siddiqui, UC nazims and naib nazims and other officials were also present on the occasion.

SITE: The SITE Town administration removed encroachments from Banaras Chowk and surrounding areas.

A house illegally built near a nullah was also razed during the campaign. Besides, a number of roadside makeshift stalls were removed clearing the road for smooth flow of traffic.

Meanwhile, SITE Town Nazim Izharuddin Ahmed inaugurated work of laying sewerage pipelines in UC-4.

He said that all the backward areas of the town would be upgraded and facilitated on the lines of other developed parts of the city. He also inspected the work of water and sewerage project in Pak Colony (UC-1) and directed the officials concerned to expedite the work.

LANDHI: Nazim Landhi Town Muhammad Ismail Qureshi has said that any indolence regarding construction of the '12000 Road' will not be tolerated.

Addressing a meeting on Tuesday, he asked to accelerate the pace of construction work on this project. The contractor of the project apprised the nazim about difficulties in release of funds, on which the nazim immediately contacted City Nazim Mustafa Kamal and requested him to solve the problem in pubic interest.

City Nazim said that the contractor would get a cheque of Rs10.64 million by the evening from the city government’s office. It was decided in the meeting that the progress of project would be reviewed after every 15 days.
