4 tribesmen killed in Waziristan firing

MIRAMSHAH, June 16: Four people were killed and one was wounded when army troops opened fire on tribesmen near here in the restive North Waziristan Agency on Thursday. Witnesses said that a convoy of troops was going to Detakhel from here when a military vehicle was hit by an improvised explosive device in the Degan area.

The explosion did not cause casualty but troops resorted to heavy indiscriminate firing, killing four tribesmen on the spot and wounding another, a resident said.

Those injured was taken to a local hospital.

Meanwhile, the paramilitary base camp in the Mirali area came under rocket attack on Thursday night.

As a result, officials said, soldier Mohammad Waheed was injured and two vehicles were damaged.

The officials said that at least ten rockets were fired at the camp.
