JAKARTA, June 7: Indonesian palm oil prices were mixed on Wednesday while players remained on the sidelines waiting for direction from a slew of Malaysia palm oil data to be released on June 10, traders said.

At a local auction in North Sumatra’s Medan, Indonesia’s key port for palm oil exports, crude palm oil was quoted at 3,955 rupiah ($0.422) a kg, little changed from 3,960 rupiah a kg on Tuesday. Some 400 tons exchanged hands at the auction.

In Jakarta, CPO prices at the state marketing centre were quoted at 3,929 rupiah a kg, up from 3,912 rupiah a kg on Tuesday.

RBD palm olein in Jakarta was quoted at around 4,225 rupiah a kg, unchanged from Tuesday.

There’s no fresh news that can give us fresh price direction at the moment. The market is likely to be quiet for the rest of the week until Malaysia releases its palm oil data, said a trader in Medan.

The government-run Malaysian Palm Oil Board (MPOB) will release official production, exports and closing stocks figures for May on June 10.

Export offers stayed unchanged on Wednesday at $390 a ton for June shipment, free on board at Belawan port and buyers bid at $385 a ton. No deals were reported.
