DERA GHAZI KHAN, May 20: The residents of Tuman Buzdar tribal area demanded on Saturday settlement of land before computerisation of the revenue record.
The demand was voiced by scores of local tribals, including member of district council.
Members of Buzdar tribe demanded through Hayat Mohammad Khan that the settlement of their homeland should be carried out before computerization of the revenue record of the district.
In 1967, people of Tuman Buzdar had resisted against the settlement of their land. The resistance turned into bloody clash with the government agencies. The people of Tuman Buzdar commemorate December 7 as day of Shuhda-i-Koh Sulaiman. The government had halted the process of settlement due to resistance.
Hayat Khan claimed in a district council session that the present revenue record of Tuman Buzdar was prepared on the direction of chief of the tribe which was totally unjust and it was not prepared in field but in his dewan khana to protect his interests.
District Officer (revenue) Javed Mahmood Bhatti said the revenue record of Dera Ghazi Khan would soon be computerised and launching of settlement process needed permission and financial assistance of the provincial government.
He assured the people that there would be no change in the record during computerisation.
It is worth mentioning that Tuman Buzdar tribal area comprises 90 villages with population of 64,137 according to the census of 1998 with 35,038 square metres measured and 645,266 sqm unmeasured area. — Correspondent
