Volunteers start work in Mansehra village

MANSEHRA, April 30: A group of volunteers on Sunday began clearing rubble from a primary school and a mosque in the earthquake-hit village of Kodar Bala in Mansehra district. The volunteers are part of the National Volunteer Movement (NVM) which organised a special ceremony on the premises of the Kodar Bala mosque. The ceremony was attended among others by Mansehra District Nazim Sardar Mohammad Yousaf, NVM Director General Khalid Masood Chaudhry, Karvan chief Ms Yasmin Lari, Union Council Nazim Shah Khan and Abu Zafar Sadiq, NVM’s deputy director along with elders of the area.

This was a follow-up of the NVM’s Karvan Ghar mass awareness programme that was launched on April 8 by President Pervez Musharraf.

Under instructions of the NVM Chairman and Information Minister Mohammad Ali Durrani, the process of reconstruction will commence in the next four days in which residents would contribute as volunteers.—Online
