Opposition boycotts NALC session

By Our Correspondent

GILGIT, March 20: Opposition members belonging to PPP and PML-Nawaz walked out of the Northern Areas Legislative Council session on Monday when they were not allowed to speak on the issue of creation of technocrats seats.

PPP members Ghulam Muhammad and Fidaullah Advocate, PML-N member Hafiz Hafizur Rahman and others contended that it was illegal to hold elections for six technocrats’ seats as the NALC opposed them on Nov 14, 2005, through a unanimous resolution.

The members said they had demanded increase in general seats, but it had not been honoured.

Speaker Malik Muhammad Miskeen deleted the issue from the agenda and did not allow debate on the technocrats’ seats and adjourned the session.
