KARACHI, March 20: Traffic police have made elaborate arrangements for observing Chehlum of Hazrat Imam Hussain on Tuesday. According to the plan, a procession will be taken out from Nishtar Park at 1pm.

Prior to this, an Alam procession will come out from Martin Road Imambargah at about 11am which will terminate at Nishter Park where a Majlis will be held before the main procession starts for Hussainian Iranian Imambargah.

The route of the main procession will be as follows:

Nishter Park, Sir Shah Nawaz Bhutto Road, Father Jaminis Road, Mehefil Shah-i-Khurasan, M A Jinnah Road, Mansfield Street, Preedy Street, M A Jinnah Road, Boulton Market, Bombay Bazar, Kharadar, Nawab Mohabbat Khanji Road to Hussainian Iranian.

As soon as the procession will start from Nishter Park, all vehicular traffic coming from the city side will be diverted to Soldier Bazaar from the Junction of M A Jinnah Road-Dawoodpota Road.

All traffic on Soldier Bazaar Road, from its junction with Dr Dawoodpota Road up to its junction with Khan Bahadur Naqi Mohammad Khan Road and shall flow one way.

All buses, minibuses, trucks coming from Nazimabad side will be diverted to Nishtar Road towards Zoological Gardens to reach their destinations.

All buses, minibuses, and trucks coming from Liaquatabad side will be diverted to Martin Road towards the jail side.

These vehicles will, however, be permitted to proceed up to Jail and then proceed via Jamshed raod, Shahra-i-Quaideen, Sharea Faisal up to Gora Qabristan and then via Mubarik Shaheed Road, Iqbal Shaheed Road, Lucky Star, Sarwar Shaheed Road, Dr Dawoodpota Road, Preedy Street to their normal route.

When the head of the procession reaches the junction of M A Jinnah Road, Mansfield street, these vehicles will proceed straight for 602 EME workshop, Mubarak Shaheed Road, Iqbal Shaheed Road, Lucky Star, Sarwar Shaheed Road, Fatima Jinnah Road, Maulana Wafai Road (Old Stratchen Road), Dr Ziauddin Ahmed Road, M A Jinnah Road till the situation permits when these vehicles will be diverted to I I Chundrigar Road from the junction of Court Road/M R Kiyani Road.

Similarly, all buses, minibuses approaching city from Stadium side will proceed via new M A Jinnah Road.

These vehicles will be diverted to Dada Bhoy Noorji Road towards Kashmir Road from its junction with new M A Jinnah Road/Link road behind Mazar Quaide-i-Azam.

All trucks, buses, minibuses approaching from Superhighway side shall be diverted from Al-Azam Square towards Chowrangi No 2 Nazimabad and proceed along Estate Avenue Road, Sher Shah to Mauripur Road. For return journey, these vehicles will follow the same route.

All buses, minibuses and trucks approaching from National Highway side will proceed via Rashid Minhas Road, Stadium Road, Sir Shah Mohammad Suleman Road, Hassan Square, Liaquatabad No 10, Nazimabad Chowrangi No 2, Habib Bank, Manghopir Road, Estate Avenue Road to Sher Shah, Maripur Road.

For return journey, these vehicles will adopt the same route.

All car traffic will not be permitted to proceed towards the route of the procession from Guru Mandir.

These vehicles will be diverted to Bahadur Yar Jang Road and again to Khan Bahadur Naqi Mohammad Khan Road.

Under no circumstances, these vehicles shall be permitted to proceed along Solider Bazar Road from the junction of Khan Bahadur Naqi Mohammad Khan Road/ Bahadur Yar Jang Road.

All car traffic coming from Quaid-i-Azam’s Mazar side along M A Jinnah Road will be diverted towards Bahadur Yar Jang Road.

No vehicular traffic will be permitted to proceed towards Old Exhibition under any circumstances.

All vehicular traffic approaching Old Exhibition via Shahrah-i- Quaideen (except those arriving for participating in the procession having stickers pasted on their windscreens) shall not be allowed to proceed from the roundabout of Shahrah-i- Quaideen/ Link road behind Mazar.

No bus/minibus/ truck will be permitted to proceed beyond this roundabout towards Old Numaish.

All traffic going towards Saddar and other colonies will not be permitted to proceed towards Empress Market from the junction of (1) Preedy Street/Sarmad Road, (2) Preedy Street/ M A Jinnah Road, (3) Shahrah-i-Liaquat/ Court Road and (4) Shahrah-i-Liaquat/ Mohammad Bin Qasim Road when the head of the procession reaches near the crossing of M A Jinnah Road/ Mansfield Street.

Similarly, all vehicular traffic proceeding towards Saddar via M A Jinnah Road side shall not be permitted to proceed from its junction with Preedy Street and Agha Khan Road.

No vehicular traffic shall be permitted to proceed towards M A Jinnah Road from the junction of M A Jinnah, Preedy Street when the procession clears this intersection.

The vehicular traffic on Agha Khan Road from Zoological Garden side shall not be permitted to proceed towards M A Jinnah Road/ Agha Khan Road intersection.

The diversion of buses and minibuses and other heavy traffic/ vehicles shall be started well in advance whereas the car traffic shall be diverted as soon the procession starts formation.

No vehicles shall be permitted to park along the route of the procession and the route will be kept clear from all parking and other obstructions.—APP
