KARACHI, March 20: Shipping activity remained brisk at the port where four ships scheduled to load and offload containers, diesel oil and chemicals were arranged berthing at QICT, FOTCO Oil Terminal and EVT on Sunday, said a PQA pres release on Monday.

Departures were also fairly brisk where five ships, three container ships, one chemicals carrier and one vessel carrying edible oil sailed during the last 24 hours. Two more ships carrying iron ore and chemicals oil also arrived at outer anchorage.

Seven ships — Hurst Point, MSC Nederland, Azov Wind, Warbah, Mighty Michales, Ocean Thi and Anette Kosan — are currently occupying berths to load and offload containers, edible oil, diesel oil, wheat, coal, and chemicals.

A cargo volume of 78.447 tons comprising 63.912 tones import cargo and 14,535 tonnes export cargo inclusive of containerized cargo carried in 1,682 containers (boxes) was handled.

Five ships — MSC Selin, Hurst Point, MSC Nederland, Azov Wind and Anette Kosan -– sailed, while Mighty Michales is expected to sail on Monday. Four ships, Nedllyd Muscat, Bulk Canada, Hua Shan Hai and Yanaseni, are expected to take berths on Monday.

Two chemicals carriers Global Trader and Stolt Tenacity are due to arrive at the on Monday, while two more ships MSC Austria and Islamabad are due to arrive to load and offload containers and rice on Monday.
