KARACHI, March 12: A policeman was shot dead by unknown persons in Saeedabad on Sunday night. Police said that Sub-inspector Masoodul Rehman, 40, was returning for duty at the Saeedabad police station when he was shot near a graveyard in Saeedabad.

The victim was taken to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

Police said that the victim, who was in plain clothes when attacked, had been working at the police station in the intelligence branch.

His body was sent to the Civil Hospital for legal formalities.

WOMAN KILLED: A woman was shot dead in Korangi late on Saturday night.

Police said that Tahira, 42, was shot dead by her husband Sajjad Ali over some domestic dispute.

The police quoted children of the couple as saying that they heard sound of gunshots and rushed down stairs and found their mother wounded. The children said their parents quarrelled almost every day.

Police said that Sajjad was a jobless person. His elder son, Arif, has lodged the FIR against his father at the Zaman Town police station.
