KARACHI: Traffic plan for match


KARACHI, Feb 17: The traffic police has chalked out special traffic plan on the occasion of Pak-India One-Day International cricket match scheduled on Feb 19 at the National Stadium Karachi, said an announcement on Friday.

It said that traffic and parking arrangements had been made to facilitate citizens and the spectators.

Parking: For the spectators going to various enclosures of the National Stadium, parking arrangements have been made at the China ground and the National Coaching Centre ground on Sir Shah Suleman Road and the Expo Centre on University Road.

Vehicles heading toward the Expo Centre would be allowed only from the University Road. Free bus service would be operated from Expo Centre, Hasan Square Chowrangi, Karsaz and Habib Ibrahim Rehmatullah Road to the National Stadium and back.

The parking at parking lot-A; inside the stadium would be allowed only to foreign guests, law enforcing agencies and print and electronic media. The spectators intending to enter into Hanif Mohammad Khan, Special Children, Wasim Akram, Asif Iqbal, Waqar Hassan, Wasim Bari, Mohammad Brothers and Iqbal Qasim enclosures have been advised to park their vehicles at the China and National Coaching Centre grounds being near to their enclosures.

For the enclosures named after Javed Miandad, Fazal Mehmood, Zaheer Abbas, Imran Khan, Majid Khan, Intikhab Alam and Naseemul Ghani, the spectators have been advised to part their vehicles at the Expo Centre and reach the stadium through the free shuttle service. Parking in the surroundings of the stadium except in the prescribed places is strictly prohibited and in case of violation, the vehicles would be lifted besides imposing fines.

Alternate Routes: All roads leading to the National Stadium would be closed near the stadium for general traffic from 7am till end of the match. Only those having tickets would be allowed to go to the stadium. Others would not be allowed even to pass from diversion points.

Diversions: The traffic will remain open at the Stadium Road up to the Aga Khan Hospital; however, it would be closed from the PSO petrol pump. The traffic from Hasan Square to the National Stadium would be completely closed. However, main University Road would remain opened.

All buses, minibuses and other heavy traffic are prohibited on Habib Ibrahim Rehmatullah Road from Karsaz traffic signal. However, motorcycles, rickshaws, taxis and other vehicles would be allowed up to crossing of Amir Khusro Road. They would not be allowed to move further.

The road heading towards the stadium from Dalmia would be closed for heavy vehicles. However cars, motorcycles, rickshaws, taxis and other vehicles would be allowed up to the Bahria Cemetery crossing. All kinds of vehicles are banned at KDA Chowrangi located behind the stadium.

The citizens have been advised to adopt alternate routes.

Spectators have been advised to come to the stadium at least two hours before the match begins and park vehicles at Expo Centre and avail the shuttle service.

Ambulances, fire brigade and other emergency vehicles are exempted of diversion points.—PPI
