KARACHI, Feb 8: The Governor, Dr Ishratul Ibad, on Wednesday paid a detailed visit to various localities of the city to review arrangements at imambargahs in connection with Muharram-ul-Haram.
Home Minister Rauf Siddiqui, City Nazim Syed Mustafa Kamal and other senior officials accompanied him.
Ibad during his visit talked to the managements of imambargahs and mourners about arrangements for Muharram. He thanked the ulema and people for maintaining a peaceful environment.
He said the provincial and city governments and the law enforcement agencies were discharging their responsibilities with coordination.
The governor also inquired about the cleanliness, water, power and traffic arrangements. The DCO, city police chief and administrations of respective towns briefed him governor in this regard.
The managements of imambargahs and majalis appreciated the cooperation of the police and local administration and said coordination was being maintained at every level.
Nazim: The City Nazim, Syed Mustafa Kamal, has expressed satisfaction over the arrangements made by the city government and town administrations for Ashura this year.
“We have kept close liaison with the police and the local administration. The arrangements regarding Muharramul Harram are very satisfactory,” he said in a press statement.
He said all towns had made necessary civic arrangements, which included cleanliness and installation of lights along the procession routes besides ensuring availability of water. Arrangements were also made to provide first aid to the mourners.
The city nazim visited the procession routes to see the civic and security arrangements. He also visited various other areas of the city including the Jafar-i-Tayyar, Hussainabad, Orangi Town and Rizvia Society.
