QUETTA, Feb 1: Nawab Akbar Khan Bugti, his grandson Nawabzada Brahmadag Bugti and 11 others have been booked for attacking a Frontier Corps convoy and injuring 11 paramilitary troops.

The FIR was registered in the Dera Bugti police station on Jan 29 on the complaint of the FC officials, who charged that Nawab Bugti and 12 others had attacked an FC convoy. The attack had occurred on Jan 21 on the Sui-Dera Bugti road in which 11 paramilitary troops had been injured.

Spokesman for the Jamhoori Watan Party Agha Shahid Hasan Bugti condemned the filing of the FIR against the JWP chief and termed it worst type of character assassination.

He said that it was an old practice of the rulers to implicate respectable politicians in so-called criminal cases. He said that Nawab Bugti had shifted from his Dera Bugti residence prior to the FIR’s filing date.

Shahid Bugti told this correspondent that the filing of what he termed bogus cases against the JWP chief would not deter the Baloch people from their struggle against usurpers of Balochistan’s resources.

He said Pakistan was the only country in the world where the government killed its citizens and then registered FIRs against victims. He said the oppressed people would ultimately emerge as winners in their struggle against anti-Baloch rulers.
