KARACHI: Nasreen calls for promoting peace

KARACHI, Feb 1: A meeting, presided over by City Naib Nazim Nasreen Jalil, on Wednesday called for promoting peace and tranquillity during Muharram and decided to establish close liaison between town nazims and police officials as part of these efforts.

Addressing the meeting, attended by Haq Parast town nazims, Ms Jalil said disability is being fanned in some towns through a well-planned conspiracy, said a handout.

She said that land mafia, narcotics trade and encroachments under cover of new constructions have been given a free hand to function. She however, said that the city administration would foil all such designs.

She directed the town nazims to arrange medical facilities in their respective towns to facilitate Muharram processions and take all necessary steps to ensure provision of civic amenities during remaining sacred days.

Religious preachers should also promote harmony between different schools of thought through their sermons, she added.—PPI
