TIMERGARA, Jan 24: Workers of Islami Jamiat-i-Tulaba (IJT) on Tuesday held a protest rally against changes in the curriculum of primary schools. The students, led by IJT leaders Mushtaq Ahmad and Shad Muhammad, marched on different roads and burnt tyres. The rally culminated at the rest- house chowk.

The protesters blocked the Timergara-Dir road for more than an hour for traffic and raised slogans against President Pervez Musharraf and Federal Education Minister Javed Ashraf Qazi.

They carried placards inscribed with slogans against the current changes in primary schools’ curriculum.

Addressing the rally, Islami Jamiat-i-Tulaba leader Mushtaq Ahmad, IJT Timergara nazim Shad Muhammad and IJT Dir nazim Nawab Bacha said that the changes in the curricula had been made at the behest of America and Western powers, adding that the changes were against the ideology of the country.
