KARACHI: Bail plea of KBCA official rejected

By Our Staff Reporter

KARACHI, Jan 2: The provincial anti-corruption court, headed by Judge Arjun Ram Talreeja, rejected on Monday the bail plea of Akhlaq Ahmed, a former controller of Karachi Building Control Authority.

The KBCA official was arrested on Oct 24 for his involvement in irregularities and corruption in the affairs of the Karachi Building Control Authority.

The judge, however, ordered hospitalisation of Akhlaq Ahmed, who is suffering from cardiac and lung diseases.

It was alleged that Akhlaq Ahmed had retired from his service in 2001. He was given extension of two years which had also expired but he continued to work on three positions.

The ACE investigation also showed that Akhlaq Ahmed had possessed an apartment on sixth floor in Al-Mashriq Centre near the Civic Centre where all illegal deals were made.
