KARACHI: Suspected terrorist arrested

By Our Staff Reporter

KARACHI, Dec 20: An alleged activist of a banned sectarian outfit was picked up on Tuesday by intelligence agencies, official sources said. Osman alias Chhotu, brother of Asif Chhotu, an activist of a splinter group of the banned Lashkar-i-Jhangvi, was arrested for his alleged involvement in incidents of terrorism and for possessing explosives.

However, a senior police officer in the investigation wing and another in the Crime Investigation Department (CID) denied the arrest and said the suspect was not in police custody.

KILLED: A teenager was clubbed to death by area people after he confessed to have raped and killed his two-year-old cousin in Sachal police limits.

Aysha Kareem, daughter of Faiz Kareem, a resident of Niyazi Colony, went missing on Sunday. Area people informed Aysha’s parents that they had seen the girl with her cousin Ismail, who was heading towards an isolated place.

The father of the girl, asked his nephew about the girl but he plainly refused. Later, when Aysha’s father roughed up Ismail, he confessed that he had strangled her after subjecting her to sexual abuse. He led the girl’s father and area people to the place where Aysha’s body was lying.

The area people got provoked after they saw the body in bushes and severely beat up Ismail, who fell to the ground and lost consciousness.

Assuming him dead, the area people left him on the spot. The body of the girl was shifted to Abbasi Hospital for autopsy and was later handed to her family.

A passer by Noor Alam, saw Ismail lying on the ground and informed the police.
