KARACHI: Seminar on industry stakeholders

KARACHI, Dec 12: The Small and Medium Enterprise Development Authority (SMEDA) here on Monday organized a seminar to solicit views of industry stakeholders, employers and workers on Draft Labour Inspection-2006.

Federal Labour Secretary Malik Asif Hayat chaired the concluding session of the workshop. The speakers informed that the policy aims to contribute to national economic and social progress by securing an acceptable level of compliance as per labour laws and regulations.

The consultants said that recommendations gathered from the participants will be taken into account in preparing final draft of the policy document. The labour inspection system is responsible for securing compliance with the labour laws and regulations. The restructuring and revitalisation of the labour inspection system requires clear guidance and direction, involving a range of new approaches to labour inspection that are outlined in Labour Inspection Policy-2006.—APP
