London sugar rises

LONDON, Dec 7: London white sugar futures edged higher on trade buying against speculator selling in a choppy session towards midday on Wednesday, traders said. Front-month March was up $1.40 or 0.43 per cent to $326.40 per ton in volume of 434 lots at 1123 GMT, having moved from $$327.00 to $323.00.

May was up $1.50 or 0.45 per cent to $336.00 in volume of 46 lots, after trading from $336.00 to $331.50. Speculators were selling early on, and the market then entered positive territory on trade buying, one trader said. Another said: “The market had rushed up so much and now needs a pause.—Reuters
