PS chief asks unions to finalize package

KARACHI, Dec 7: The Chairman of Pakistan Steel (PS), Lt-Gen (retd) Abdul Qayyum has advised the representatives of all trade unions and associations to finalize their realistic demands for negotiations with a committee, formed by the Privatization Commission, to evolve a package for the employees of Pakistan Steel.

He said that the government and the Steel Mill management were fully committed to protect the interests of all stakeholders. The privatization of the mill is in the larger interest of the country, he added.

Addressing the labour unions and officers association at Pakistan Steel Operation Building, he advised the representatives to put up their detailed recommendations for preparation of a consolidated package deal which would also include feedback provided by hundreds of serving and retired employees who have sent their viewpoint directly in response to the invitation extended on October 28, says a press release.
