KARACHI: Three die in accidents

KARACHI, Nov 29: Three persons died in road accidents in different parts of the city on Tuesday. Police said that Waqar Husain, 22, a conductor of Khan Coach, was alighting from the speeding coach when he lost his balance and fell on the road in North Karachi. A speeding dumper which was closely following the coach ran over the conductor.

Later, the body was taken to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for legal formalities.

In Clifton, a middle-aged man was knocked down by a speeding car.

Police said that Shamsuddin, 40, was standing at a bus stop when he was knocked down by a speeding car on Clifton Road. The victim was taken to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

According to the police, the victim was a resident of Malir City.

In another hit-and-run accident, a woman reportedly crossing the main University Road near the KDA bus stop was knocked down by a speeding car. The victim was identified as Sadia, 30. The victim died before she could be shifted to any hospital, police said.

ARRESTED: Police on Tuesday arrested six suspects and recovered six TT pistols from their possession in Shireen Jinnah Colony.

Police said that initially, a suspect Rozi Khan was arrested with pistol from the limits of Boat Basin police station. During interrogation, he disclosed the identities of his accomplices. Subsequently, police arrested them from a cab bearing number (JN-2955). The suspects were roaming around in a suspicious manner in Shireen Jinnah Colony. Five pistols were recovered from their possession, police said.
