Woods birdies fourth extra hole to keep crown
MIYAZAKI (Japan), Nov 20: Tiger Woods beat Japan’s Kaname Yokoo in a playoff to successfully defend his title at the $1.7 million Phoenix tournament on Sunday.
Woods picked up the $350,000 first prize after birdying the fourth extra hole, the par-five 18th. Yokoo hit his second shot into the trees right of the green and could only make par after missing a 12-foot putt.
World number one Woods carded three birdies, three bogeys and a double bogey for a closing two-over 72. Yokoo had six birdies and five bogeys in a rollercoaster 69.

272 — Tiger Woods (US) 65, 67, 68, 72; Kaname Yokoo 68, 67, 68, 69 (Woods won playoff with birdie at fourth extra hole).

VILAMOURA (Portugal): Wales won the WGC-World Cup after heavy rain and thunderstorms forced the cancellation of Sunday’s final round on the Algarve.
Stephen Dodd and Bradley Dredge of Wales had been two strokes ahead of England’s Luke Donald and David Howell and Sweden’s Niclas Fasth and Henrik Stenson at the end of the third round.
Dodd and Dredge collected $700,000 apiece after organisers decided to pay out full prize money.—Agencies
