LAHORE, Nov 20: Jamaat-i-Islami Amir Qazi Hussain Ahmad said on Sunday that the European Union had seconded the viewpoint of the opposition by asking the government to have the rehabilitation and reconstruction authority, and the usage of foreign aid approved by the parliament.

In a statement issued here, he said the European Union had also asked the government to have the term of the authority approved by the parliament and also trickle down the relief activities to the lower level, including provincial, district and local governments.

He said all democratic governments used to take their elected parliaments into confidence in all matters of national importance, taking all decisions with its approval.

Parliament did exist in Pakistan but all decisions were being taken single-handedly. The policy was not even changed when the country faced the greatest tragedy ever, wasting a golden opportunity of creating unity in the country, the JI amir said.
