KARACHI, Nov 20: Sindh Chief Secretary Fazlur Rehman has said that Karachi would soon get water supply from the K-III reservoir. He was presiding over a meeting, held to review the Decentralization Support Programme for betterment of 23 district governments, on Saturday.

The chief secretary said that the K-III project was near completion under which 100 million-gallon water shall additionally be supplied to Karachi from next month. It would enhance the existing water supply from 486mgd to 586mgd, he added.

Meanwhile, KWSB Managing Director Brig Iftikhar Haider said restructuring of KWSB was aimed at facilitating citizens.

Addressing a meeting of superintendent engineers of 18 towns on Saturday evening, he said that after the restructuring of KWSB the consumers could get all facilities of water supply and sewerage disposal under one roof and their complaints would be resolved timely. He said that the town superintendent engineers of the KWSB would be responsible for their respective towns.

He said zonal chiefs and superintendent engineers would be given full powers. He said that the new system would ensure better coordination among the employees of water, sewerage, pumping and tax sections.

He will address a press conference on Tuesday to give details of the reforms in the KWSB. —PPI
