KARACHI, Nov 20: The community development department of the city government organized various programmes at Safari Park to celebrate the International Children’s Day on Sunday.
A number of children visited the park, where pet show, bird show, snake show, magic show as well as baby show were organized as part of the day-long activities.
On the occasion, solidarity was expressed with the quake affected children. The entry fee of Rs5 per head was also donated towards the President’s Earthquake Relief Fund.
Sindh Social Welfare Department had set up its stall on the occasion. Besides, a number of non-governmental organizations, including Sub-i-Nau and Azad Foundation, had also set up their stalls.
In the evening, a candle lighting ceremony was held to express solidarity with the quake-hit children.
According to the statement issued by Azad Foundation, it had set up a medical camp providing facilities free of cost for hepatitis and blood group tests to the visitors.
Meanwhile, a large number of school children participated in a Majlis-i-Muzakra, organized by the Pakistan Himayat Tehreek to mark the International Children’s Day on Sunday.
According to a statement, the arrangements were made at the residence of PHT patron-in-chief Mir Nawaz Khan Marwat.
On the occasion, Quran Khwani and Fateha were held to express solidarity with the children affected by the earthquake in different areas of Azad Kashmir and the NWFP.
It was stressed that concrete steps were needed to help quake-hit children because majority of them were under-age and did not have capability to take right decision about their future. —APP
