KARACHI, Nov 20: Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ibad has directed the officials concerned to prepare a comprehensive master plan for Hyderabad. He called for chalking out a strategy with regard to the plots earmarked for parks and recreational purposes throughout the province and bringing them into public use with the cooperation of corporate organizations.
The governor was chairing a high-level meeting at the Governor’s House where, besides other issues, the Hyderabad Package and development schemes for newly set up districts adjoining Hyderabad came under discussion.
The meeting was attended, provincial Minister for Planning and Development Shoaib Ahmed Bukhari, Adviser on Finance M. A. Jalil, Adviser on Local Government Waseem Akhtar, Chief Secretary Fazlur Rehman, Hyderabad Nazim Kanwar Naveed, Principal Secretary Mohammed Saleem Khan and other officials.
The DCO Hyderabad and consultant Hyderabad Package briefed the meeting about development works.
The governor stressed on supply of filtered water and resolving the drainage and long- pending issue of sub-soil water on a priority basis.
The meeting was informed that the funds provided by the president and prime minister would be distributed as per the already decided formula and also to complete the development schemes in all the newly created districts under the settled plan.
Dr Ibad stressed that no part of the districts should remain deprived of development works. He ordered that filtered water supply schemes throughout the province be completed on a priority basis.
Nazim of Hyderabad informed the governor that designing for the restoration of Hyderabad’s historic Rani Bagh and zoo had been completed.
The governor said that work on more such big projects be taken in hand.
The meeting decided to appoint the concerned DCOs as project directors for completion of package schemes in districts.—APP
