HYDERABAD, Nov 12: A major coal-fired power plant of the country namely the Lakhra Power House has ceased production of electricity for the last 20 days adding to the problems of the national power supply system.

According to impeccable sources, all the three units of the power house, producing 150 megawatts of electricity per day has been lying closed for the last three weeks. Power house sources confirmed that all the three units have been lying closed for the last three weeks.

He said that the overwhelming majority of mine workers belonged to the Northern Areas and following the massive earthquake of October 8, all the workers had left for their native places en-masse. He said due to the non-supply of coal the power house could not be operated.

He said the other reason was that the power house was not getting adequate supply of water, which was an essential ingredient for operating the power house.
