Faruki elected KCCI chief

KARACHI, Nov 12: Haroon Faruki has been elected president of the Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) for the remaining one year term. The post has become vacant after the resignation of Khalid Firoz.

Haroon Faruki, a candidate of the Businessmen Group, backed by Siraj Kassam Teli, secured 2,062 votes, as against 1,392 votes bagged by his opponent from the Businessmen Forum, Sultan Chawla.

A spokesman for the KCCI said that a total of 3,580 votes were cast, while 3,454 were declared valid votes.

A huge hustle and bustle of voters was witnessed at the KCCI historical building where a peaceful polling took place.
