South African Air Chief visits PAF HQs ISLAMABAD, Nov 10 (APP): Chief of the South African Air Force Lieutenant General Cario Gargiano on Thursday visited Air Headquarters here. On arrival, a smartly turned out contingent of Pakistan Air Force presented the guard of honour. After reviewing the guard of honour, he was introduced to Principal Staff Officers of Pakistan Air Force. The distinguished guest also paid to the martyrs of PAF by lying wreath, on Martyrs' Monument situated at Air Headquarters. Lieutenant General Cario Gargiano also called on Air Chief Marshal Kaleem Saadat Chief of the Air Staff in his office. Both remained together for sometime and discussed matters of professional interest. Air Chief Marshal Kaleem Saadat presented a crest of his office to the visiting dignitary. Shaukat Aziz talks to Jordanian PM by phone ISLAMABAD, Nov 10 (APP): Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz on Thursday talked by phone with Jordanian Prime Minister Dr. Adnan Badran to express solidarity with the government and people of Jordan and condemned Wednesday's terrorist attack in Amman. The Prime Minister said that Pakistan abhorred the heinous acts of terrorism in Amman, in the strongest terms, which has caused death and injury to a large number of innocent people. Indian army official killed in gunbattle with militants in occupied Kashmir SRINAGAR, Nov 10 (AFP) - A senior Indian army official was killed in a gunbattle with militants Thursday in occupied Kashmir, a military spokesman told AFP."Indian army cordoned off two houses where the militants were hiding on a tip off, and when the soldiers closed in, the militants opened fire killing an army Major," spokesman Vijay Batra said. "At the moment it is hard to know how many militants are hiding in the house and the firefight is still going on," Batra said. Bomb at Iraqi recruiting office kills 10 - medics BAGHDAD, Nov 10 (Reuters) - A car bomb killed 10 people and wounded 20 more at an army recruiting centre on Thursday in the city of Tikrit,, hospital sources and police said. Doctors at three different hospitals reported casualties in the attack, which was the second on Thursday aimed at Iraqi security forces. Greek police detain 61 Kashmiri illegal immigrants found hiding in truck THESSALONIKI, Greece Nov 10 (APP/AP) _ Police detained 61 illegal immigrants found hidden in a truck near Greece's border with Turkey early Thursday, and arrested the Albanian driver on smuggling charges, authorities said. The immigrants were from occupied Kashmir, police said. The 21-year-old driver was arrested following the random police inspection of the truck outside the border city of Alexandroupoli. Pakistani, Indian FS meet, review progress on CD DHAKA, Nov 10 (APP): The Foreign Secretaries of Pakistan and India Thursday reviewed progress on the Composite Dialogue process and expressed satisfaction over the agreement to open five crossing points across the Line of Control for Kashmiris. Security incidents in Iraq, Nov. 10 Baghdad, Nov 10 (Reuters) - The brother of parliamentary speaker Hajem al-Hassani was abducted on Tuesday in the northern city of Kirkuk, police said Thursday. A husband and wife employed by the city council were killed by gunmen while on their way to work in the capital's western Ghazaliya district, police said. Cricket-Pakistan police use sniffer dogs for test security MULTAN, Nov 10 (Reuters) - Pakistani police will use sniffer dogs to carry out a complete security sweep of the Multan cricket stadium before the start of the first test between Pakistan and England on Saturday. A senior officer said on Thursday sniffers dogs had already carried out a check of the stadium before the arrival of the England team for practice. Sixteen dead in Afghan truck plunge KABUL, Nov 10 (AFP) - Sixteen people were killed and another five hurt early Thursday when a truck they were travelling in swerved off a road and plunged into Kabul river near the capital, police said. Afghan soldier killed after opening fire on US troops KABUL, Nov 10 (AFP) - An Afghan soldier was shot dead after he opened fire on US troops at a base about 48 kilometres from Gardez city, the capital of eastern Paktia province, wounding two American soldiers, the US-led coalition said Thursday. Iraqi army finds 27 bodies: KUT, Iraq, Nov 10 (AFP) - The Iraqi army said Thursday it had found the bodies of 27 people south of the capital, with bullets to their heads and their hands and feet bound. Suicide bomb kills 35 in Baghdad restaurant: BAGHDAD, Nov 10 (Reuters) A suicide bomber wearing an explosive vest blew himself up in a crowded Baghdad restaurant frequented by the security forces during breakfast on Thursday, killing 35 people and wounding at least 25 more, police said. "Body parts are all over the place, we are still collecting them," a police officer at the scene said. China reports two new outbreaks of bird flu: BEIJING, Nov 10 (Reuters) China has discovered two new outbreaks of the deadly H5N1 strain of bird flu in poultry in the northeast, bringing the total number of outbreaks to six since the beginning of last month, Chinese media said on Thursday. Suicide bombers kill 57 at Jordanian hotels: AMMAN, Nov 10 (Agencies) Suspected suicide bombers struck at international hotels in Jordan's capital Amman, killing 57 people and wounding 110, security officials said on Thursday. In Wednesday night's synchronised attacks, two bombs exploded while crowds were celebrating weddings, leaving blood and destruction at Amman's luxury Grand Hyatt hotel and the nearby Radisson SAS. Taliban behead two civilians, kill seven Afghan police: KANDAHAR, Afghanistan, Nov 10 (AFP) - Militants loyal to Afghanistan's Taliban regime killed seven Afghan police and beheaded two civilians in the country's insurgency-hit south, a provincial governor said Thursday. The policemen were killed in an ambush Wednesday on a three-vehicle convoy that was travelling on a highway between troubled Uruzgan province and Kandahar, a former Taliban hotbed, Uruzgan governor Jan Mohammad told AFP.
