Forest guard, health clerk arrested

MULTAN, Nov 7: A forest guard of Shujabad and a junior clerk of the health department were arrested here on Monday after the special anti-corruption court rejected their bail applications.

Junior clerk Tahir Husain of the health department was accused of stealing official files which the drug inspectors had prepared against some medical stores, while forest guard Rafiq was accused of cutting down trees worth Rs100,000.

Both the accused were arrested and handed over to the Anti-Corruption Establishment after the court turned down their bail applications.

INQUIRY: Eight more witnesses, including seven policemen, recorded their statements before civil judge Syed Faisal Raza Gilani who is conducting a judicial inquiry into the death of a youth in police custody. —APP
