KARACHI, Nov 7: The provincial anti-corruption court, headed by Judge Arjun Ram Talreeja, remanded on Monday an officer of the Building Control Authority and his personal assistant to judicial custody.
The Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) had arrested Akhlaque Ahmed of KBCA and his personal assistant Moin Ahmed on Oct 24 for their alleged involvement in irregularities and corruption in the affairs of the Karachi Building Control Authority.
The judge ordered the ACE to submit the final charge-sheet of the case by Nov 21 when the two accused were ordered to be produced before the court by the judge.
Besides, the judge has fixed Tuesday for hearing arguments on the bail application of the accused.
It was alleged that Akhlaque Ahmed had retired from his service in 2001. He was given a two-year extension which had also expired but he continued to work on the three positions.
The ACE investigation also showed that Akhlaque Ahmed had possessed an apartment on 6th floor in Al-Mashriq Centre near the Civic Centre where all illegal deals were made.
